Frequently Asked Questions

All cakes are priced individually based on size, design, and level of detail. There is no “wedding tax” — a cake is priced the same whether it’s for a wedding, birthday, or special celebration.

Wedding cakes often have a higher investment due to their scale, structural requirements, and decorative detail. For many couples, this is the most significant cake they will ever order, and it is designed accordingly. Some designs require additional materials or extended decorating time to achieve a specific look. Every cake we create receives the same level of care, craftsmanship, and attention — regardless of occasion.

Typical minimums:

~200 servings: $1,200

Pricing also reflects professional licensing, insurance, fair wages, and the time spent coordinating directly with your venue, florist, and planner to ensure seamless delivery and setup.

A standard serving is approximately 4” x 2” x 1”, consistent with traditional cake portion. Our cakes are typically taller than average, making each slice satisfying despite its refined size.

Clients often find that slices are fully enjoyed rather than portions left behind.

Yes to both.

We deliver throughout Montana and much of the Big Sky region. For weddings and sculpted cakes, delivery is highly recommended and required for designs over two tiers.

Wyoming deliveries: starting at $200

Destination events (Big Sky / Glacier / Yellowstone):
Due to distance, a hotel stay is required in addition to delivery fees. Estimated delivery is $100 per hour of travel, with final pricing discussed during consultation.

Smaller cakes (up to two tiers) may be picked up. Once a cake leaves our care, responsibility transfers to the client. We provide transport guidance but cannot be held liable for damage during transit.

Pickup times are typically 9:00–10:00 AM on weekends. Delivery routes begin at 10:00 AM. For safety reasons, we do not meet clients in parking lots or alternate locations.

Bluebird Sweets is a custom, made-to-order boutique, and we do not operate a retail storefront.

Tastings are held off-site in Billings by appointment only and are available for couples ordering 50+ servings in a single large dessert. (Not cutting cakes with cupcakes)

Consultations are $50 and include:
A private design meeting
A tasting box with 3 cake flavors, icings, and up to 3 fillings
Weekend appointments book 3–4 weeks out. Limited weekday availability between 10 AM–1 PM.

We recommend scheduling at least 6-9 months prior to your wedding date. Having your venue booked beforehand is strongly advised.

Sculpted cakes represent the highest level of craftsmanship we offer. Each piece is fully custom and requires advanced structural planning, specialized materials, and extensive hands-on work.

Pricing begins at $500 and increases based on scale, complexity, and engineering. Larger or gravity-defying designs require additional expertise and are quoted accordingly. (View examples in the sculpted cake gallery.)

These cakes are not simply desserts — they are edible works of art designed to be a focal point of your event.

Occasionally. While cake is our primary focus, we do offer custom sugar cookies when appropriate. Cookies are finished with marshmallow fondant and embossed or painted. We do not work with royal icing.

Yes. Cupcakes require a minimum order of one dozen per flavor. Basic cupcakes are $50 per dozen.

At this time, we do not offer these items.

Our kitchen is not suitable for clients with celiac disease due to shared equipment. For severe allergies, we recommend Rae Rae’s Bakery on Grand Avenue, which specializes in gluten-free baking.

We do not currently offer vegan or dairy-free selections.

A signed contract and non-refundable booking fee is required to secure your date. The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to the event.

Orders placed within two weeks of the event — or under $200 — must be paid in full at booking.

Payment plans are available for wedding cakes over $200. Final payment is due one month prior to the wedding.

We accept cash and all major credit cards via Square, a secure online payment platform. We do not accept payments through social media payment apps.

Booking fees are non-refundable, as your date was reserved exclusively for you. Payments already applied may be transferred to another available date or event type.

Absolutely. We proudly create custom wedding cakes for all couples celebrating love and commitment.
